The Min-Pins

"Have you heard of snow-white and the seven dwarfs? I’m sure you have! It’s not just a bedtime story. Such small, tiny people exist. And this is what my story is about: the dwarfs from Treetown.

Treetown is a small town in a tree. It’s a happy place were everyone is friends with everyone. This is where the Min Pins live. The Min Pins are a dwarf family. George and Maya Min Pin have four children Jack, Jill, Marie and Stuey.
Stuey is the youngest and the friendliest of all four kids. His best friend is Hippie, a blackbird. Since they met they were never apart. Do you wonder how Stuey and Hippie met? Stuey has always been fascinated about how beautiful a blackbird can sing. He used to stay all day and listen to the sound that he enjoyed so much. He didn’t want to disturb one of the birds while it was singing, but at the same time he wanted to know why birds can sing and people can’t. So, he got closer to a baby blackbird and asked it:’Can you teach me how to sing?’and the bird said:’Let’s do it how my father taught me: take a deep breath, raise your chin, and sing from the heart.’ Stuey did exactly as he was told but he still couldn’t sing. The bird said:’I think dwarfs aren’t made for singing.I’m Hippie.Who are you?’.’I’m Stuey Min Pin. I guess you are right.’ Since that day Stuey started seeing Hippie every day. They were best friends and only Maya and her cooking could ever tear them apart. Cookies were her special. No one has ever eaten better cookies than her chocolate chip cookies. When Hippie tasted the first time her cookies he didn’t like them, but he soon got used to them, and now he loves them.

As best friends they wanted to make a pact and a symbol of their friendship. They wanted to help and be helped in return. So they said that whatever happens to them, the other one will come and rescue and help him. They clapped three times, shake their ‘tails’ twice and turn around once. They did this every time they met.
But because they’ve spent too much time together, Maya said that he should spend more time with her brothers and sisters. Stuey didn’t want to hear such a thing so he ran outside to tell Hippie. Hippie said that his mother told him that same thing. They thought it over and over again. They thought running away was a solution, and that’s what they did. They packed what was necessary and run away that same night.
Next morning Maya went to wake up Stuey, but he wasn’t there. She searched the whole house, she even asked a few kids outside, but he was no were to be found. Hippie was missing too, so she figured that they left together. Maya told this to George, and he said that they should look after them on the bee branch, where all the bees were, a very dangerous place.

Patrols were sent to look for them and in the end they found them. Both Maya and Hippie’s mother grounded them two weeks. Beautiful days are over. Let’s hope that this won’t end their true friendship."

March 2005. A time when i started dreaming of true friendship. Now there is no need to dream. Now I am living my dream.
